What Christmas Means To A Non Christian

By Naresh Belliyappa I am not a Christian, but there is something about Christmas that appeals to me as no other religious festival does. As a child, whenever I was told the story, I would wonder why Joseph and Mary left the task of finding lodgings to prepare for the birth of the baby Jesus till it was almost too late,. I especially loved the part where the three Magi found him in a manger and presented him with their exotic gifts. As a parent I can empathise with the worry that Joseph and Mary must have tried so hard to hide from each other as inn after inn turned them away. I can imagine how Joseph must have felt; bringing his heavily pregnant young wife to a place that was not all that familiar and his feeling of helplessness at not being able to provide basic amenities at such a crucial time. Mary engrossed, as most women are who are close to giving birth, in thoughts of the baby, wondering about her ability to manage alone save for her husband, so far from home surely this was not what she thought would happen when she was given the glad tidings by the Angel Gabriel. And now, as an adult having faced my own share of lifes vicissitudes, I feel I finally understand the true meaning of that birth. It is about faith in the Lord, love for each other and the hope that we can all be far more honorable than we are. It is about the kindness of strangers and the longing of people to be in the presence of goodness. It touches on some of our deepest fears and yet holds out the promise of better times to come. In a world riven with hatred, violence, greed and suspicion, where selfishness has become a kind of survivor tactic, the celebration of the birth of Christ is like a symbol of the possibility of change that one man can bring about. Whether one believes that Jesus is the Son of God, a prophet or even just a very holy man, there is no gainsaying the power of his teachings and their relevance today. Perhaps the best way to celebrate Christmas is for each of us, regardless of our individual creed, to incorporate the lessons he taught his followers into our lives, thereby helping in our own little way to change our world for the better. Tips for Using Balloons at Your Next Party

By Gary Nave Balloons are a great way to decorate any party. They are colorful, festive and rather inexpensive. The two most popular balloons are latex and mylar balloons. You can even purchase a helium tank and fill them yourself. A kit comes with a tank, 50 colored latex balloons and ribbons. One way to decorate your tables is balloon centerpieces. Depending on your budget you can purchase pre made balloon weights or make your own. To make your own weights all you need is sand and foil wrap. Don't forget about putting a balloon on each chair. If you plan in advance, you can purchase personalized latex balloons. A great way to give out party favors is to package three or four ounces of candy treats in a bag and wrap it with foil wrap.
Use the candy as a weight to hold down the balloon. When the party is over make sure each child leaves with a balloon and candy favor. Another idea for a kids party is to hire a balloon sculptor. A good sculptor can make hats, animals and keep the party flowing for over an hour. This is recommended for children three and up due to the chocking hazards of balloons. Make sure no uninflated or popped balloons are left around. Having a pool party? Definitely don't forget the fun water balloons. I mean you are already wet anyway and it's a great way to cool down while running around the pool. Check your local toy store for water balloon hose nozzles that make it easier for kids to fill their own balloons. Going to visit someone in the hospital? There is nothing like showing you care then a bouquet of balloons. Remember, space is a concern in a hospital room so a few colorful balloons will do the trick. Use your imagination and you could come up with endless possibilities for using balloons to add that extra touch. Balloons are a fun colorful way to celebrate any occasion, and best of all they always make you feel like a kid again. Gary Nave helps consumers choose the right balloons for their needs. Lemon Juice Health Benefits

By Kevin Pederson Lemonade is known to have been used as a refreshing drink since the time of the Moguls. Modem investigations have tended to support this use, the essential oil being very good for cooling the body. This use can be extended to the employment of lemon juice with water and sugar as the best drink to take when you have a fever When the temperature of the body is high, whether from the effects of the sun or from the results of illness, it is necessary to take regular drinks in order to prevent dehydration. Sugar is not normally a desirable part of a healthy diet, nevertheless it has its part to play with lemon, and although there is no doubt that the addition of honey if available is very much to be preferred. The high vitamin C content of the lemon has been used for hundreds of years to ward off scurvy among sailors and travelers. There is little sodium, so the fruit is good as a flavoring for those on a low salt diet. Because in some countries the producers of lemons extend their keeping properties and improve appearance by coating them with the chemical diphenyl and waxing the fruits, it is a wise precaution to wash the lemon with a little unscented soap and then rinse thoroughly before converting the whole fruit to juice. The pulp left from the juicing is excellent for the skin and can also soothe the bites and stings of insects. If you add equal parts of toilet water and of glycerin to the residue the mixture can be made to keep the hands smooth. Doctors Morel and Rochaix demonstrated that the extract of lemon when vaporized will neutralize the bacteria of meningococcus, typhoid, pneumococcus and staphylococcus in from 15 to 180 minutes. A gastronomically inclined Frenchman, Charles Richet, is said by Dr Valnet to have discovered that the lemon juice added to raw oysters before eating them destroys 92% of the bacteria present within 15 minutes. A good reason to wait before you eat! This information is relevant to the idea that lemon juice is a most important therapy to be used in all cases of infection of the respiratory tract and as a general tonic. Provided that the juice is diluted with water, there is no danger in taking any reasonable quantity of lemon juice. Be sure to choose firm, clear colored lemons that have not begun to wither. The first signs of ageing can be spotted where the stem was once attached to the fruit. Kevin Pederson has been managing a number of natural home remedies websites which have information on benefits of juices and raw vegetables are also mentioned which includes lime juice too. Truthful Profiles are Most Successful

By Jo Robinson Making your profile on an Internet dating website can be a little bit daunting because you want your profile to stick out and garner as much attention as possible. At least that is what you think you need so you become tempted to include activities like skydiving, even though you have never done it, to make you seem more daring and bold. Or perhaps you say you are an athlete when you can't walk and chew gum at the same time and your last athletic event was PE in grade school. These are temptations that really should be avoided. The reason why they should be avoided is you will garner attention, but from the wrong set of people. You want to be as honest as you possibly can in your profile because then when somebody responds you know they are interested in the real you! The one that is clumsy or scared of the dark or any of your other attributes that you find silly or boring. These might be just the attributes someone else is looking for. If you still are not convinced and think you want to add information in your profile that is not true consider this. When you are looking at someone's profile and they state their favorite activity is staying home with a crossword puzzle you get all excited because this just happens to be your favorite activity as well so you make contact. Then, you ask them about their favorite crossword puzzle and they don't even know what you are talking about. How will you feel? You will feel tricked, duped, and will stop talking to that individual. So, don't do this to someone else. You will be tricking them and yourself into thinking you have found a connection when the connection is built on lies. As a result, be honest in your profile because there are people out there looking for someone exactly like you with all of your imperfections, likes, dislikes, and everything else that makes you who you are. So, don't hold back when making an Internet dating profile, but don't lie either. You will benefit significantly more by being honest so keep that in mind. In addition, you won't hurt anyone else or make them feel like they have been tricked and not trust in online dating anymore. What your grandmother told you about honesty being the best policy was right and that is the best way to create your online dating profile. How to Quickly Drop 10 Pounds

By Chris Chenoweth Most of us would like to drop 10 pounds or more in a hurry and most of us would like to keep the weight off. If you are motivated, it is not difficult to lose 10 pounds quickly. The key is to limit your caloric intake to 1000-1200 calories per day and eliminate ALL sugar and starch from your diet. Since the body always uses the most readily available source of energy first, which is sugar and starch, eliminating them from your diet forces your body to burn fat instead. Any sugar that the body does not use will get stored as fat. Remember that the next time your reach for a brownie or cookie! Tips to help you lose weight fast: *Drink lots and lots of water. Water forces your body to run more efficiently, flushes harmful toxins out of your body, speeds up metabolism, and makes it easier to lose weight and burn fat. *Start your day with breakfast. Eating a healthy, protein-packed breakfast (This does NOT include donuts!) revs up your metabolism and gives your body the energy it needs to get through the morning. *Do not eat between meals, EVER, especially after 6:00 pm. If you absolutely must eat something, nibble on a piece of raw fruit or a couple of raw vegetables. *Exercise every day for at least 20 minutes. Aerobic exercises have the greatest fat-burning potential. The best examples are walking (the easiest), swimming, bicycling, skating, and jogging. If you diet without participating in any exercise, your weight loss will be much slower. If you are over the age of 40, your metabolism may be more sluggish than it used to be. The most effective way to overcome a sluggish metabolism is to increase the activity level of your body. A short-term rapid weight loss regimen will stimulate initial weight loss and provide encouragement to continue, but rapid weight loss is not healthy for your body and should only be used as a temporary measure. The biggest challenge for most people is keeping the weight off permanently and not reverting to previous eating patterns. Once you have accomplished reaching your weight loss goal, you must make changes to your lifestyle that will help you to maintain your weight and have a healthier body. For permanent weight loss to occur, you must be diligent in your eating and exercise habits. Diligent does not mean going on a starvation diet! Starvation diets do not work and can cause serious health problems. They can actually work against you causing your metabolism to slow down in order to conserve energy. The slower metabolism causes you to regain the weight you initially lost plus put on additional weight. Rapid weight loss is NOT healthy for your body. However, if you are someone with little patience who needs fast results, embarking on a quick weight loss program to lose 10 pounds can work for you; or if you are someone who needs to lose much more than 10 pounds, an initial quick weight loss can be good if you use it as motivation to permanently change your diet and lifestyle. Three Tips to Ensure an Unforgettable Date

By Peter Motley Dating is a lot of fun and meeting a person who shares your interests and feelings is exhilarating. Also, when dating, you explore new sides of yourself, which can be enlightening and interesting. When you are out on a date, there are no fixed rules as such. Every date is different and it is best to just go along with it. However, there are a few tips that might be helpful in getting the most out of the date and enjoying your time with your new friend. Be punctual It is good manners to be punctual. If you arrange to meet somewhere at 8PM be there at 8PM or a few minutes early. It is rude to be late and will give your date the impression that you are not that interested in him or bothered about the date. Also, being late will start the date on a bad note. Even if you have excuses, it will still not look good. Be calm It is normal to have butterflies in your stomach before a big date, both from excitement and mild alarm, but try not to let nerves get in the way of having a good time. What is the worst thing that could happen? Your date might not be successful or you might be compatible. What if it isnt successful? Well, there will be others! Once you realize the worst thing that could happen is not actually that bad, you should relax more. Take deep breaths and decide you are going to have fun. Be honest When you are on a date, be yourself! This includes being honest and not telling far-fetched yarns to impress your date. The odds are that he will see right through them and wonder why you feel the need to lie in order to impress him. Your life is interesting and everyone has good stories to tell. Just talking about your hobbies and interests is fine for a first date. Avoid prying questions and do not discuss past relationships or anything gloomy. The first date should be light-hearted and fun and telling tall tales will only get you into trouble when your date realizes they were not true. These are just three helpful tips. The most important thing is to be yourself. If the two of you feel a mutual attraction and interest in one another, there will probably be more dates and who knows? You might even have found yourself a lifetime partner. Three Tips to Ensure an Unforgettable Date Tips On Dating lets you share our secrets with our Free 50 Article Report plus Free eBook 101 Romantic Ideas and so much more advice all to do with dating. http://www.tipsondating.net will also show you how to keep the romance alive. Wonders of Perfume Samples

By El Young Its a given fact that having an original designer branded perfume could be very costly. What could be worse than splurging on an $80 bottle of designer perfume only to shelf it after a couple of sprays. This is because many people buy perfumes on its judging from their first impression. This mistake is two-fold. Firstly, they possibly have tested more than 10 different types of scents before making that purchase. All these testing would have already skewed the sensitivity of the nose and thus unable to accurately judge the scent of the designer perfumes. More importantly, designer perfumes have multiple layers of scents, hence the first impression from the perfume tester would not give a complete representation of the perfume. That is why many people loved the scent from the perfume tester only to find its scent pungent after a couple of sprays. Thankfully, with the perfume samples, you can now make an informed decision on purchasing the your next designer perfume with savings (more on this later)! The perfume sample normally would last you more than a couple of sprays so do not skim when sampling. Make it an effort to take note on how each layer of scent peels off when time wears on. Rule of the thumb is to pay attention to the scent every 1-2 hours or so. Having said that, you do not need to write anything down, just make a mental note on whether you like the scent and how it smell like, ie sweet, citrus or flora. Do not think too much, always trust you instinct when deciding whether you like designer perfume's scent at any point of time. Now to savings when buying designer perfumes. Since you have found a new designer perfume of your fancy via perfume sample, you have already made a substantial saving. However you could enjoy even more savings can be made via online perfume store and websites providing special designer perfume promotion! Online perfume shopping can be very rewarding, but that is a separate issue. Hope you can make full use of the perfume samples to find your perfect designer perfume! 9 Things You Absolutely Must Know Before Deciding to Teach in Korea

By Jason Cresswell If youre considering teaching ESL in South Korea, there are a few things that you should know before making your decision. Its sometimes difficult to get accurate information. I will sum up some of the most important points for you hear. Then, when you decide to go to Korea, youll be confident in your decision. 1. You dont need a TESOL Certificate There are a lot of sites on the Net and businesses out there that will try to convince you to take a course to get certified to teach English as a Second Language. To clear up the misconceptions, you dont need it! All you need to qualify to teach in South Korea is a 4-year degree (BA, BS etc) So, save your money. If you really want to take the course, it wont hurt, but just know that even without it, you can get a great job. Before I went to South Korea for the first time, I had no idea what it took to qualify. I thought you had to be an actual teacher. Not so. Demand is high, and grads from all programs are welcome. 2. Never, ever pay a recruiter There arent too many left out there, but there are still a few companies who will ask the teachers to pay a fee to find them a job. If you come across someone like this, say thanks, but see you later. Heres how it works: In South Korea, the demand for learning English is huge. It is continuing to increase. Koreans want to live and compete in the global economy, so they need to be able to communicate in English. Therefore, there are lots of English language academies across the country that are in need of native English speakers such as yourself. So, they pay companies to find good employees for them. The schools pay the recruiter, not the teacher. 3. Its a different culture When you decide to get on a plane and fly to the other side of the world, you have to know that there are going to be some differences from what youre used to. This is one of the best parts of the experience for most people. But, if you are afraid of seeing different places and different ways of doing things, this job is not for you. If youre the type of person who likes adventure, learning new things, experiencing stuff that most of your friends will never experience, then this job is for you. If youre ready for a change of pace, a change of perspective, and the best change of your life, then youre ready to start this adventure. 4. Watch out for the complainers Its unfortunate that there are so many negative people around, isnt it? But I guess youve noticed just as much as I have that some people will complain no matter what. The same goes for teaching abroad. As you do your research, youre going to come across people who have negative things to say. These people have complaints about everything. They dont like the food, or the people, or the work, or the weather, or whatever else they can think of. Funny thing is, it doesnt matter where in the world they go; its the same story. So heres what worked for me: Ignore them. If you give them even a little bit of attention, theyll carry on for days. All that does is bring your mood down, and when theres so much fun to be had, who wants that? Of course, youre going to want to make sure you do your best to choose a company and a school that will suit your needs. Dont go into this blindly. Be confident in your decision, so when you get on that plane and you are looking out the window over the ocean, youll know that youre on your way to one of the best years of your life. And when youre there, spend time with people who have an equally positive outlook. Let the complainers have a club of their own. 5. Your family and friends are going to be worried The first time I told my mom that I was going to teach in Korea, she thought I was going to be sold on the black market as a prostitute after being kidnapped in a van. Vivid imagination mom, good thing it was her son and not her daughter that told her this. I could only guess what story she would have come up with then. The fact is, most Westerners dont have any idea about whats happening in Asia. We know that its somewhere far away and that they eat rice and have dark hair. We learn nearly nothing in school about any Asian nations, so we have nothing to base our thoughts on. When you tell people that you are considering this option, you are going to hear all kinds of objections. Youll hear of someone who was a friend of a friend who went to China and had a bad time. Youll hear all kinds of generalities about why its some kind of scam. The best thing to do at this point is to consider the source of the information. Sure, you respect your family and friends. But, do they really know anything about teaching overseas? Have they been there themselves? Have they done the research youve been doing? Are they the type of person who you could picture packing their bags and living somewhere else for a year? Educate them. Let them read stuff like this. Let them listen to audio presentations on teaching in Korea. Let them look at guidebooks. The more information they have, the more likely it is that they will support you on this adventure. Five years later, my mom is a huge supporter of teaching overseas. Shes seen first-hand how much Ive learned and grown from the experience. Even if she cries every time I leave the country, she is no longer worried about the van picking me up. 6. South Korea is modern What do you think of when you try to picture Korea in your mind? Do you see huts and villages of people farming? Do you think of the 88 Olympics or the 2002 World Cup of Soccer? Do you have trouble coming up with any specific image? Before I went, I had no idea what to expect. The only thing I knew was that Seoul hosted the 88 Olympics. Well, Ive learned a bit more than that over the years, quite a bit more. South Korea is very advanced. They have one of the highest per-capita rates of Internet use as well as mobile phone use in the world. The electronics produced from companies such as Samsung and LG are leading the global economy. Carmakers such as Hyundai and Kia are selling enormous amounts of vehicles around the world. Theyre leaders in the shipping industry. Medical research is also cutting edge. Fashion trends follow those of Hollywood, combined with local distinctions. Brands such as Calvin Klein, Prada, Levis, DKNY, American Eagle, and others are highly sought after. Local clothing manufacturers also turn out beautiful quality clothes at unbelievable prices. The buildings are modern. Cities are filled with tall apartment buildings and various types of architecture. Transportation by high-speed trains of the newest and best technology is available to travel across the country at low prices. However, if its old-world traditions that you are looking for, you will not have to look hard to find it. Even in the center of Seoul, one of the largest cities in the world, you will find Koreans dressed in traditional Han-bok, formal clothes which style dates back hundreds of years. You will find elderly ladies selling fresh fruits and vegetables on the sidewalk next to a young man selling imitation Louis Vuitton handbags. You will enter modern grocery stores where there is still someone hired to stand up on a box and shout out the prices of fresh fish to all those in the store, while techno music plays over the stores intercom system. Outside of the major cities, you can find people who like to live the slower life. There, things move slower. Traditional Korea can be experienced and the natural beauty of the country enjoyed. There is sometimes nothing better than getting out of the city and into the country to enjoy the old ways. Whatever you prefer, its all available to you. 7. You can make a lot of money, but be careful When you combine the good salary, the free accommodations, the free flight, and the bonus months pay, its easy to see that teaching in Korea gives you a perfect way to save up a bundle of cash. Some people want more, so they teach private lessons. Private lessons are basically one-on-one conversations with people who want to learn to speak English better. The demand is high for English, and people are willing to pay $40, $50, and sometimes more for the opportunity to sit down and work on their English for one hour with you. However, this is working outside of your contract, thus technically illegal. It is like working under the table. When you are in Korea, you are there on a visa that allows you to work for one school. Regardless, many of your co-workers will be teaching privates, as well as other friends you will meet there. If you do decide to take the risk, do so knowing that it is not allowed by your contract. It certainly is very tempting to make $50 an hour for having dinner with someone, especially when they pay for your dinner! 8. The food is good When I first went to South Korea, I was worried about what I was going to eat. I have yet to meet anyone who is as picky an eater as I was in my youth and up until the time I went to Korea. Vegetables, no thank you. Ice cream, sure, but not the cone. Spaghetti, nope. Gravy, Ill pass. Lettuce on my sandwich, no way. My favorite food? Pizza, but only if it has nothing but pepperoni. Well, all that has changed for me know. In my years in Korea, Ive learned to expand my taste. Im happy to report that I do eat vegetables, can have anything on a pizza and still enjoy it, love salad, pasta and pretty much am open to anything. Ive also tried some pretty funky stuff while in Korea. Heres the great thing. Even back in my first year, I was able to find stuff to enjoy. Korea has everything. If you are vegetarian, no problem. If you like Italian, Chinese, Thai, Indian, Mexican, or any other style, its available. If you like fast food, you can find McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Subway, and many other North American chains all over the place. Whether youre looking for Western or Eastern, you will have no trouble finding food you like to eat. 9. Your apartment Before I left for Korea, I was told by many people to expect my apartment to be small, really small. By the time I was on my way, I was expecting to be living in a closet. I was pleasantly surprised at where I was to live. It was much larger and more comfortable than I expected. Of course, being fully furnished was a big bonus as well. Ive lived in and seen many different accommodations provided to English teachers in Korea. The good news is that they are very livable. If you were worried about not having a nice place to spend your year, you shouldnt. If youre used to living in a five bedroom, 3-bathroom house, you may want to prepare yourself for something different. But, if you could be comfortable living in the average-sized apartment in your home country, youll have no worries. You should now be in a much better position to make your decision. Information is the key to being comfortable with your choice. The next step I would suggest is to listen to the audio presentation at http://www.asknow.ca . Here you will find even more detailed information. And, if youre ready to take the next step in what should be the most exciting stage of your life, go ahead and apply for a job. Jason Cresswell is co-owner and CEO of ASK Now Inc., a company that helps university graduates find employment teaching English in South Korea. He spent 5 years teaching and traveling to countries such as South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and Taiwan. Depression Treatment and Changing Your Diet - Results Could Beat Using Drugs

By Foras Aje I had stated in a previous article how Yoga could work as a natural depression treatment based on my own experiences. To add to that information-being a very important limb of Yoga into itself- what you eat also has an effect on your mental health. Consequently, if youre interested in a drug-free treatment of depression, without the side-effects common to most depression medications, a crucial step will be to make some dietetic changes amongst other factors. However, what should be the main priority, to avoid adding insult to injury when using depression medications, will ironically be avoiding their use considering the many side effects common to these anti-depression drugs. Effective as they may be for a while, its been noted that these substances have several side effects which may include nausea, fatigue, insomnia and some sexual dysfunctions. In some cases on mental side effects, mania has even been reported; so needless to say, a drug free depression treatment might be your best AND safest bet for your health. Now, when in depression, most of us have the tendency to binge in an effort to mask our feelings or deaden the pain, some of us go as far as soliciting the use of alcohol, drugs or even sex for depression help. Yes, they may give some relief for a while, but when these mere distractions wear off, the symptoms of depression always do come back, and with a vengeance. This considered, it will be safe to say the first step of a dietetic factor in regards to depression treatment could be refraining from food, at least for a while friends, really.
An observance of nature will show us that when animals are frightened or angered, they refrain from eating until after the passage of considerable time. It is true that under stressful circumstances many civilized people refrain from eating and find in truth that they lack the desire for food, but it is also too often that most will eat large meals under these circumstances, which will be mostly disease forming foods to start with, that as a consequence, complicates or altogether halts an already retarded ongoing digestion. This endless cycle leads to even more toxins and poisons in an already encumbered body. So what are you saying Foras (thats my name by the way), I should fast or something? Well, if you can, that will be excellent. At least till your emotional balance returns, which will be the end result as the body is not taxed with the duties of digestion, assimilation and re-building. Your mind clears and all moroseness disappears and consequently, we tend to find the answers to the problems warranting a treatment for depression in the first place. Now for many, I agree it might be asking for too much to fast during a stressful time based on old habits, but as an alternative, it will be advisable to steer clear of harmful mucus forming foods and partake of body healing ones: Fruits and Vegetables. A restricted diet of one kind of fruit can be considered a camouflaged fasts but you have to be knowledgeable of its season, how it was grown (organically or conventional) and even when to eat as body cleansing and building do occur at specific times of the day. Now, not to get of the subject of depression treatment, these steps, be they a fast or a healthier diet, will ensure that the body is cleaner and well we all should know by now that a cleaner body equates to a cleaner mind. In fact Yoga sages (this obviously showing my vote of Yoga for anti-depression) suggest that certain foods, which they coin as rajasic (stimulating foods including Spices, alcohol, and animal products) foods have a negative stimulating effect on the nervous and endocrine systems, the two main ones that are related to mental health and consequently depression. Based on their impeccable analysis of the human body, it may be safe to say these old Yoga Sages are completely right in suggesting we as humans-or at least those of us seeking the use of Yoga for depression treatment-should abstain from these foods for optimal success. Is it a co-incidence that these same foods are the ones that have been shown to wreak havoc on our physical health? I think not folks. This considered, instead of introducing chemical substances into your body in a quest for seeking depression treatment, from the facts above, it will be wise to first make a dietetic change, which again may include a short fast, at least to clear our minds first to tackle our problems, then eat the proper foods for nourishment and of course partake in some physical exercise (my choice being some Yoga) to obtain the inevitable feel-good results. Depression is something we all may go through at some point, but thankfully relief and a successful treatment of it is not out of reach and this without harmful side-effects. So empower yourself to a successful depression treatment targeting its root cause with drug-free methods of healing. On the subject of diet and depression treatment, I choose to remind you of this quote: Let your foods be your medicine and your medicine your foods (By Hippocrates the Father or Medicine) May happiness be yours. Lead Type Values (for non-instore sales)

By Daniel Wadleigh If you want to sell a product, you must get in front of potential customers. This is accomplished by generating leads. Leads can be generated in all sorts of ways, and different methods produce different relative close ratios. There are basically two major kinds of leads: you go to them, or they come to you! The "they come to you" type of lead usually has a much higher close rate than the other. The reason for this is that the ones who come to you are predisposed to at least investigate, and have taken action - completely of their own volition. This kind of lead, assuming the potential customer is able to acquire your product or service, is usually above 50% in closing potential. The lead generation techniques and their relative close rates for professional sales people are as follows: 1. Referral - a lead from a happy customer 85% 2. Broad-base advertising response 65% 3. Home Shows 30% 4. Direct Mail 5% 5. Telemarketing (depending upon pre-qualification) 30-40% The first three sources of leads represent the customer being predisposed, originally instigating the action to inquire, and most likely a good candidate for the application. Part of the lower rates for direct mail, telemarketing and home shows is related to the ability of the potential customer to buy and the validity of his use of the product or service. Besides the obvious, that milking referral leads is a golden opportunity, there is more to this than meets the eye. To run a managed lead generating/sales program, it takes more than raw money and "trying something." As previously described, you have to get past break-even in cash slow, ASAP. Therefore, within your means, you should consider trying most of the lead generation techniques and monitoring the number of leads, the number of sales and thus determining the cost-per-sale of each generating device. There are a lot of variables involved in each of the types of lead generating devices. Some forms will obviously be more profitable in different exterior climates (bearing in mind that want, need and fear are the buying motives). In troubled economic times, referrals and direct mail should control the flow of leads. In times of any shortage (fear), media advertising (positioning) will suffice. Besides developing referrals, which lead source is best suited for your business. After testing, monitor, adapt and continue monitoring. If They're Not Coming to You... You get phone calls or visits when people have decided to act. They may not all buy, but at least they're kicking the tires. You also get phone calls and visits when people respond to an ad of yours. Again, they may not buy, but they have responded. These are both times in which they took the initiative to do something. The first scenario may will be a sale for someone, if not you. The second situation is also a possible sale, for someone. The first scenario is one in which you really have no control. These calls or visits represent unexpected but hoped-for business. The second situation is one with a little more control in it, but still does not have a very high success rate. There is a third choice. This scenario is the vast number of potential customers out there who have been "thinking about it" but haven't been motivated enough to spend time, effort and money. Direct response marketing says, "I'm asking you to make a decision." This is by far the lowest close rate, but it is predictable and profitable! The first step is to entice them, when they weren't really looking for it, to make a decision. This can be done through drawings, contests and other kinds of give-always that cause them to come by, call in, or stop and fill in a coupon. As part of the whole promotion event, you get them re-exposed to your product line. But, they were not predisposed to considering this, so you need to have an enticing reward for their attention and time. For example, have you ever gone to a free dinner to get pitched about a "timeshare", or to learn about the Internet? Can you imagine how many magazine subscriptions Publisher's Clearinghouse sells to give away $10 million? And remember, Ed McMahon doesn't work for free, either! Why Proper Nutrition is Important for Weight Loss

By Lawrence Carelse To successfully achieve your firm butt, lean hips and thighs, you will have to exercise, eat healthy and drink water. It is not rocket science. What is nutrition? It is the good we get from all the food we eat and it helps our bodies work properly. These nutrients include carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and water. Nutrition has a three part process: 1. Food or fluid is consumed. 2. The body breaks down consumed food or fluid into nutrients 3. Bloodstream carries the nutrients to different parts of the body. (Fuel) Important: An individual has to eat and drink foods and drinks that contain important nutrients that the body need. Unfortunately there are no quick fixes, magic pills, potions or low calorie diets that will guarantee success and keep the weight gaining off. Regular physical activity (power walking, running, swimming, aerobics etc.) combined with healthy eating habits, not dieting, is the realistic way of achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. Eat healthy food I saw many times people go on a diet and lose weight quickly. When I saw some of them again after a couple of months, they looked fatter than before. This is one of the major problems with crash diets. People often times regain the weight and even more. This creates a cycle of weight-loss/weight-gain that is even unhealthier than being steadily overweight. To achieve a permanently firm butt, lean hips and thighs you requires a long-term commitment to a low fat, but healthy, eating plan. Think of it as a lifestyle rather than a diet. Don't forget the exercise part. Important: Consult a dietician or professional for a proper nutritional program for you. Basic advise Drink water everyday. It helps with circulation in the body. Get your vitamins from fruit and vegetables. Eat also nuts, seeds and whole grain. Keeping track of your calorie intake. Cut out on the junk food. Lawrence Carelse, author of fitness articles.

Relationship Coaching: How Can it Help You?

By Douglas Woods Coaching has certainly become big in recent years. There are coaches to help sort out your life, your career, your finances and now there are coaches to sort out your relationships. Is relationship coaching just a gimmick or can it really help you? Relationship coaching is really a form of life coaching that focuses upon your relationship. Unlike traditional life coaching, relationship coaching can be done as a couple rather than just as an individual. In a relationship, two people have come together to share life and experiences. Each of you, however, will have a past, a history, a wealth of experiences. Each will each also have your own personal core values, your own beliefs, your own aims and expectations. While each persons past and experiences may be easy to identify, it is often the effects these have had upon the person that are most important. Sometimes these effects can be hidden and may then cause issues in a relationship. Bringing these effects to light and helping people deal with them, is often central to relationship coaching. In addition, you and your partner are also bringing your own values, beliefs, aims and expectations into a relationship. Often people are not fully aware of their own core values and beliefs, sometimes you may find it difficult to express your aims and expectations. All of this can cause problems in a relationship and it is part of the role of the relationship coach to help each of you identify your values and beliefs and also to clarify your aims. In a relationship, of course, your partner too has their own values, beliefs and aims. These may often be unknown to you and could cause friction. Bringing each partners inner values and beliefs into the open is part of relationship coaching. The coach will help you and your partner recognise each others values, beliefs and express your aims. You can then start to find ways in which you can support and nurture each other to support and develop those values and aims. A relationship, though, is not just about two people. It often involves children, who may grow and develop their own values and ambitions. Issues surrounding the upbringing and the relationship between parents and children are often what persuades couples to come to a relationship coach. One key difference between relationship coaching and, say, marriage guidance is that there does not need to be anything wrong in a relationship for a couple to benefit from relationship coaching. Even a perfect relationship can benefit from coaching to help keep it that way or even improve it further. The only key to benefiting from relationship coaching, is a desire to improve your relationship. So if you have that desire then please contact a relationship coach and see how they can help you. The Times to Fish

By Liza Othman It seems almost needless to tell any fisherman that the best fishing of the day, in pond or stream, is to be had during the first two hours after sun-up and from an hour and one-half before sunset until half an hour afterward. Fish seem to be a good deal like humans, so far as they can be observed and studied. In the morning they want their breakfast, during the heat of the day they like a siesta and when twilight falls they are hungry again. If you have your bait in the water at the first peep o' day or at twilight, you will have a fuller creel of trout or bass, than if you fish during the midday hours. But here again we are up against another exception to the rule in the landlocked salmon of the lake, which seems to defy all rules of fishing lore and takes a delight in being eccentric. He is just as likely to take a bait at high noon as he is at sunrise or sunset. On the other hand the brook trout is another exception as compared with the bass and salmon. The trout will take a fly when it is so dark that you must cast "by feel" and he will come for your worms when the only way you have of knowing they are in the water is from the tinkle of your sinker on the surface. Rock Bass - Summer and autumn. Burbot (Ling, etc.) - Toward night. Carp King - Summer. Grayling - Autumn. Pike Perch - Summer and autumn. Salmon, Atlantic - Late spring and early summer. Brook Trout - Spring and summer, day or night. Lake Trout - Early morning and at twilight. Sea Bass - Summer and autumn. Striped Bass - From spring to autumn, night or day, at high or low tide. Blue Fish - June, July, August. Butter Fish - Summer. Flounder - Deep spots on ebb tide, shallow places on flood tide, February, March, April, October and November. Herring, Atlantic - October, November, morning and evening, high tide. Weakfish - In the ocean at ebb tide, July, August, September. 16-Step Weight Loss Plan

By Chris Chenoweth The following steps will change your eating patterns and enable your body to lose weight and keep it off. Step 1.
Say Goodbye to Dieting - Forget all about dieting! The words diet and dieting are getting in your way! They are preventing you from tackling your weight problem. Every time you hear these words you switch off and reach for the cookies. Result? Your weight problem gets worse. Step 2.
Say Hello to Healthy Eating - Healthy eating sounds so much nicer than dieting. Start using that phrase today. Step 3.
Put Away Your Scales - Weighing scales don't make you lose weight. They just scare you to death. Put them away now! (Actually, don't put them away until you complete Step 5.) Step 4.
Stop Worrying About Your Weight - Why? Worry makes you miserable and makes you feel more of a failure. Result? You are beaten before you start. Step 5.
Take Your Clothes Off and Look at Yourself in the Mirror - Do it tomorrow morning, before breakfast. At the same time, weigh yourself. Step 6.
Start Looking Ahead - Don't worry about how you will look next week. Take a longer-term view like 6 months. Step 7.
For the Next Week Keep a Food Diary - Write down every single thing you eat and when you eat it. Don't waste time cheating. The purpose of this diary is to enable you to see what you actually eat, as opposed to what you think you eat! Step 8.
Create a Healthy Eating Plan for Yourself - *Eat a minimum of 5 helpings of fruit & vegetables per day. *Eat a minimum of 5 helpings of whole grain foods per day. *Eat a minimum of 3 helpings of low-fat dairy foods per day. *Eat small amounts of eggs, fish, turkey, and chicken. *(Eat no more than 1 egg a day. Eat no more than 1 portion of red meat twice a week.) *Eat VERY SMALL amounts of oil (except olive oil), butter, margarine, mayonnaise, white flour, refined sugar. *Drinks - Water, water, water, fruit juices, tea or coffee (no cream or sugar!) *Enjoy the occasional - Pastry, cookie, candy bar, bag of popcorn or potato chips (Occasional' means once a week.) Step 9.
Fill Your Refrigerator with Healthy Food - We eat whatever sits in our refrigerator. So empty out the junk food and fill up on foods from Step 8. Step 10.
Learn How to Cheat - Do you hate fruit and vegetables? That's tough. You MUST make friends with fruit and vegetables. Eat at least 5 helpings per day, although more is better. There are no substitutions. However, you can cheat. Here's how: *Make home made soup. Ideally, add spices, a little lean meat and lots of vegetables.
You won't taste the vegetables. *Make fresh orange juice
Many people won't eat 3 whole oranges every day. But they will drink the juice! *Make blended fruit drinks (smoothies)
Guide: Use 1 cup of fresh fruit + 1 cup fruit juice. For extra creaminess add a little fat-free fruit yogurt. Step 11.
Trim That Fat - Get into the habit of trimming all the fat off meat. All means all. This alone will save you thousands of calories AND help you to live longer. Step 12.
Learn How to Snack Healthily - Fruit, cereal and fat-free yogurt are excellent choices, so are thick sandwiches (lots of thick crusty bread, small amount of margarine/spread, lots of lower fat filling.) Step 13.
Be Choosy Where You Dine Out - Frequent dining out (main meal) is one of the biggest reasons why America is so fat. So be choosy! *Don't enter a fast food restaurant unless it's a SPECIAL treat. *Limit yourself to one dining out experience, per fortnight. Step 14.
Don't Go Hungry - Never allow yourself to go hungry. Your metabolism will slow down. Step 15.
Be More Active - Set aside 20 minutes a day to exercise and gradually build up to 30 minutes a day. Yes, you may hate it to begin with, but with time, exercise grows on you! Besides, it's worth remembering that exercise leaves you with MORE energy and burns fat. Step 16.
Follow These Simple Steps for 3 Months - By then you should have lost an easy 15-30 pounds. The best thing is: Your eating habits will have improved tremendously. This means you stand an excellent chance of keeping off the weight and getting your weight problem under control for good! Contingency Car Accident Lawyers

By Jason Gluckman Contingency car accident lawyers do not charge a fixed amount of legal fees for the services rendered by them. In such a contract the petitioner agrees that the lawyer's fee will be determined by the amount of settlement awarded to the petitioner. The obvious clause in this contract is that the case should be won in the favor of the petitioner. If the petitioner does not win the case, the lawyer will receive no fee. In case of a car accident, a person may file a lawsuit against the offending party for claiming compensation. This may be done in spite of not having adequate resources to pay for the same. In such a case many lawyers do consider working on contingency basis. However, many people falsely tend to believe that if they lose the case they will not have to pay anything. This is not completely true. Though it is a fact that they may not have to pay the attorney's fee, they are liable to reimburse the expenses occurred by the attorney while pursuing their case. These fees might include medical reports, analytical services, proficient witnesses, judicial costs and court reporter fees. Irrespective of winning or losing, the client will be responsible for the expenses or cost of bringing the claim to the court. When the contract to pay a lawyer in case of a car accident is based on contingency, the fee is always set at a pre-arranged percentage of whatever the compensation amount might be. This may sum up to much more than the normal fee the lawyer would have been entitled to. However, it is seen that there are many advantages to paying on contingency. If a person loses the claim, the question of paying the lawyer's fees does not arise at all. If the person's compensation is received in arrears, the lawyer's fees can also be paid accordingly. Paying on contingency can enable a person to hire the services of an expensive attorney even though he may not be in a position to pay for it. The attorney also tends to work harder since his fee is at stake. Before getting into any agreement all the factors and clauses of the contract should be studied in great detail. Welding Basics for Beginners

By Kenzie Thompson Welding has been around for centuries, though not in the forms most commonly used today. One of the first welding processes ever used was known as forge welding. Forge welding attempts to join two metals through a process of heating, and then pounding and striking. It's what blacksmiths did. But since then, there have been quite a few advancements in the welding world. With these new methods and techniques, welding has left the confines of industrial settings and can now be done practically anywhere - even underwater or in outer space! As you can guess from the history of welding, the ability to join two or more pieces of metal together in a strong bond has been fundamental in our advancements in all areas of life, from housing to transportation; from manufacturing to repairs. Understanding welding basics can come in handy at work, but it will just as often come in handy around the house, in the workshop or on the farm. Because of this, welding is a skill that almost anyone can benefit from, male or female, young or old. Why Weld? If you own any equipment or machinery that is metal, welding will certainly serve as a useful skill. Some typical goals of a welding job include: Fixing stress cracks Reinforcing weak joints, and Cutting/shaping new parts and adapters from raw plating. For chores like these, many welders rely on a process known as arc welding. Arc welding is a method where during the welding process, an electrical current jumps through an air gap (between a positively charged electrode and a negatively charged steel plate) and produces an enormous amount of heat. This heat is produced at the end of a welding rod, and when it does, metal can be melted. Well, it's a little more complicated than that, but the concept is the same. Perhaps the most common and economical welding method used today is AC (alternating current) arc welding. You can locate a simple AC welder just about anywhere, such as your local farm store or home improvement center. This welding process is ideal for most of your simple, routine welding jobs. Therefore, AC arc welding is ideal for those of you just starting out. Minimize Your Risk While arc welding isn't incredibly complicated, there are a few risks and hazards that you should be aware of: 1. Exposure to radiation
2. Flying sparks (in the form of globs of molten metal)
3. Electric Shock
4. Fumes
5. Damage to your eyes, and
6. Burns However, by wearing protective clothing and specialized welding helmets and other gear, you can greatly reduce the inherent risks of welding. Here are a few other tips to help keep you safe while arc welding: Make sure to work on a dry floor. Wear thick rubber shoes and dry leather welding gloves. Be sure to use insulated electrode holders. Check to make sure that your equipment is all properly grounded. Keep your work area properly ventilated to avoid inhaling any potentially toxic fumes. Be on the look out for flying bits of melted metal. Most importantly, be aware of any other people who are around you. If they aren't wearing the proper gear, then keep them away from your project. This will get you started welding safely - one of the most important things when learning a new craft. Kenzie Thompson practices both ornamental and industrial welding on his 5 acre ranch in Northern California. For more information on Welding Basics, visit Welding Advisor. Hemorrhoids Exercises to Easy Your Hemorrhoids

By Rudy Silva Hemorrhoids occur when your body is chemically unbalanced. Under these conditions, the veins in your anus become weak and when blood pressure increases in this area the veins will bulge out. When you strain and push to have a bowel movement, you increase blood pressure in the anus veins. This is a situation you want to avoid. If you are constipated and have been for a long time, then expect that this has triggered the formation of your hemorrhoids. Constipation doesn't cause hemorrhoids, but is a partner in creating them.
When go to the restroom, go there to have a bowel movement. Don't take any reading material in there, because that keeps you in there longer. Sitting in the bathroom, puts pressure on your rectum and anal veins and eventually weakens the vein walls. Excess sitting can also aggravate the hemorrhoids you already have. So, you don't want to sit there longer than needed. To deal with constipation, start using some constipation remedies and food that I have listed on some of my websites or articles. You will have an easier time when you have a bowel movement. I have updated my hemorrhoid e-book to include constipation remedies, so that you have an easy and quick bowel movement. Any straining you do is considered constipation and can lead to hemorrhoids later. When sitting on the toilet, there are a few things you can do to help your stools come out easier. * Sit-up straight and lean back slightly * Raise your arms up above you, this helps to stretch and move your colon * Place your feet on a small stool to raise your feet and to take the pressure off your anus * Move side to side to stretch and move your colon. If you have a job where you sit all the time, get up and walk around every hour or whenever you can. Exercises for hemorrhoids Hemorrhoids are like extra skin or inflammation that accumulates around your anus. That area can become itchy or painful to touch or movement. Exercise is called for in helping to get rid of hemorrhoids. What you need to do is get more blood to circulate in the anus. Blood circulation brings in needed nutrients and removed toxins. If toxins remain in the anus veins, then the anus vein walls will be weak. A good daily fast walk is the best. Yoga is very helpful, since it helps to stretch muscles and improve circulation. Any exercise will be beneficial. You can eat a good diet and reduce the time in the bathroom to prevent hemorrhoids and constipation, but if you don't exercise regularly, you are bound to get hemorrhoids. The other exercise that you can do is an anus exercise. Do this by pushing down like you are going to the bathroom and then pull back. Do this for a few minutes. This will help to build the tissue and improve blood circulation in that area. Yes I know, this is uncomfortable to do, but if you don't do some of these exercises, then these hemorrhoids will get worst as time passes. Keep hemorrhoids away by changing your diet, reducing your time in the bathroom, reducing blood pressure in the anus, and exercising regularly. As a natural nutritionist, Rudy Silva, researches constipation and hemorrhoids. Everything You Could Possible Want To Know About Apple's New Iphone

Their major success with the iPod, the world's most popular MP3 player, has launched them from alternative computer manufacturer to electronics super power. So what does an electronics super power do next? Take over the cell phone market of course. In the highly competitive cell phone industry, manufacturers must either evolve quickly or fade into history. It seems like the most popular way to make your phone stand out from the pack is to include more and more extra features. Color screens (the bigger the better), higher resolution digital cameras, MP3 playback, video, internet browser, the list goes on and on. But to combine all of these things and do it in a sleek and intelligent way is something no one has truly done... until now! The new iPhone will come loaded with all of the latest intelligent technology available. Running a robust Mac OS it will be able to access all of the latest internet, video, game, and office programs. The iPhone will come equipped with a gorgeous 3.5 inch touch screen display, 2 megapixle camera, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, and be capable of conference calling and multimedia messaging. All of this will be controlled by the iPhone's amazing touch screen interface, no stylus or buttons needed! The Apple iPhone will be offered in two different flavors. A 4GB version of the iPhone will be available for $499 after signing a two year contract, and if you want more space for all your videos, documents, and photos, an 8GB version is also available for an extra $100. It is not known at this time how much iPhones with no attached carrier/contract will be selling for, but expect to be dishing out quite a bit on eBay, if you are lucky enough to find one. Expensive? Yes. But when you consider that you are not only buying a cellphone, but also a MP3 player, PDA, digital camera, and portable media viewer, the Apple iPhone suddenly seems like quite a bargain! Expect to see the iPhone everywhere midway through June 2007. Zach frequently contributes to [http://www.iphonecommunity.net]iPhoneCommunity.net a flourishing network for iPhone enthusiasts. Don't Be the "Tumbleweed"

By Kevin Augustine Recently at my work, an executive hit upon a very good subject: being proactive for your career. This is probably one of the best things that you can do for your career, but surprisingly enough, a lot of people are what she calls "Tumbleweeds". These are people that just roll along from assignment to assignment, never really taking the initiative on anything, never suggesting anything, just like a tumbleweed in the desert. They might do a decent job, but that is all that they do. Consequently, when it comes around to promotion time, they usually fall to the wayside. How do you escape this deadly fate? Are you DOOMED???? Lucky for you, the answer is no (you can get out of the fetal position now, your just embarrassing both of us). There are several things you can do to make sure you are making a positive (positive being the key word here) impact at your workplace. I've outlined a few starters below:
If you are finished with your current assignment, and you don't have anything else to work on, seek out your supervisor and see if they have anything else they would like you to do. This shows initiative and that you're just not sitting around cruising the internet waiting for direction. Be careful with this though; don't rush through assignments just to get another one. Make sure to keep the quality of what you produce high. If you see some way to improve what your team is currently working on, suggest it to your supervisor. The key here is to come up with a plan of improvement first before you talk to them. Don't just say "Oh, this isn't working". You want to approach it like this: "This part of the process isn't working, but here's how I would improve it." For example, say you're working on a software design and notice that the template you are using could be improved. First, come up with an example of what the improvement would be (say a modified template), and then present it. This demonstrates both a deep understanding of what the team is doing and a willingness to help make the project better. This next suggestion can be pretty hard for people to do. Basically, if you see an opportunity for new business for your company, you should approach your supervisor and possibly higher executives with this opportunity. Now, this may seem daunting to a lot of people because it is a pretty big step. However, as long as you think that it is a legitimate opportunity, and you have a good set of reasons why it is a good opportunity (this is very important as you don't want to waste anyone's time, let alone your superiors), then this can do nothing but good things for your career. Even if the opportunity isn't acted upon, this is huge in the eyes of executives, as it shows that you are tying to "grow the business" as it is commonly called, or finding new avenues of revenue for your company. This is the kind of thing that executives do everyday, and is a great quality to showcase. If you are presented with an opportunity to take on more responsibility, you should take it as long as you are comfortable with it and confident that you can accomplish it with a high degree of success. Taking on more responsibility will show that you are ready for the next level of your career. However, as stated above, make sure that you are comfortable doing it and that you can do it successfully. Otherwise, the effect is just the opposite, and there might not be another opportunity for you for a long time.
These are just a few of the ways that you can take charge of your career. They're a good start, but you should come up with some of your own that are tailored to your specific work situation to use in conjunction with the suggestions above. Put Physics in Everyday Life

By Thomas Oestereich My friends have been a little old for college. But it has been a second chance for them, or rather a third one... So this time they wanted to do it right. Unfortunately, their curriculum included Physics. Colleges usually discourage specialization. Colleges want graduates to be more or less universally educated. They were my friends, so quite naturally they turned to me to get the extra explanations they felt they'd need to swallow that indigestible stuff. Teach me physics. And I explained. And waved my hands. And ... - and I finally realized that it was not physics in the first place, but some concepts of Maths they had not taken on! Especially the concepts of derivation and integration. My gosh! So I went there. I started to talk about derivatives. And that a derivative basically is a slope. And that you can visualize a derivative as the slope of the tangent to the point in question. Did I mention that my friends were slightly above normal college age? If you are slightly above college age, you have learned that only things matter which have a bearing on your very life. Subconsciously, that is. Consciously all you realize is that you feel very uncomfortable when you try to follow a logical sequence of thoughts without seeing the benefit. You find it VERY hard to do exercise problems, because they are good for nothing (except exercise), the solution is already known, and the situation is generally so oversimplified that this well-known solution does not correspond to any real life solution of any real life problem. So they came back on me: "But WHAT is a derivative GOOD for in the end?" Well, I understood. I had to find an example of their daily struggles to motivate them to get acquainted with the idea of infinitesimal calculus. So I went on: "Just imagine: You drive your car from point A to point B. let's say the distance is 20 miles. And you take 20 min to arrive. How fast are you?" They got the answer immediately: "60 Mph !". But I was not content. "Really? Look, what happens - you start your car. Do you instantly jump to 60 Mph? And after arrival, you normally don't hit a brick wall and come to an instant halt, do you?" They got the idea. "No, of course not, we have to start and first pick up speed, and than before we arrive, we have to slow down and gradually come to a stop. And if we have to do all in twenty minutes, our speedometer will be above 60 somewhere in the middle of the journey." That was the word for which I had hoped: Speedometer! "So you say you drive above 60 miles per hour, but not for an hour, you are actually only moving a couple of minutes! And even then, your speed is not constant, bur rather varies constantly!!" "What are you driving at with all that imaginary driving??" "Well, didn't you ask what a derivative is good for? Here you have it: The speedometer shows you the derivative of your local displacement with respect to time, because that's what speed is. And if you look at the needle of the speedometer and how it moves when showing your variable speed, the speed of that needle movement goes with the second derivative, the acceleration!" Now we got it. Finally a sigh: "So there is a derivative built in to my car!" Yes. One step further. Because there is no understanding without motivation. Party Games - Traditional and Still the Best

By Keith Sinclair Firstly, party games should be easy to understand; no-one wants to spend ages trying work out how to play the game and this is probably the reason that the traditional party games are still enjoyed by all ages today. Equally important is that party games should be FUN and should involve and entertain the maximum number of people for the maximum amount of time. As a final consideration when choosing the games to play at your party, they should match the personality of both the 'Party Guest of Honor' if there is one, and the guests that have been invited. Remember the games should be fun and full of humor to play but equally they should be enjoyable to watch. There are a couple of words on safety and caution: If you are holding a costume party, pick party games that are playable when some of your guests may have slightly restricted vision from wearing masks or restricted movement from wearing bulky or tight costumes. Here are some classic Birthday Party games; you can dress them up by renaming them in keeping with favourite characters from films or cartoons this can add to the enjoyment and works especially well when this also ties with the overall theme of the party and is continued through to the prizes given to the winners of the games. Pass the Parcel: Great party game but requires a good degree of preparation time. Bonus is that the time taken to play the game can be determined beforehand and the game can be speeded up or slowed down as required. A small gift item is wrapped in several layers of paper is passed from one guest to another whilst the music plays. When the music stops, a layer of paper is removed by the person who was holding it when the music stopped. The game finishes when the gift item is finally unwrapped. This is normally kept by that person. Recent variation is to include a small gift/wrapped sweet in every layer. Wrap the Mummy: Great party game for slightly older kids that's up to 90 then.and themes well with Egyptian parties or Halloween. Setting up time is minimal and can be used as a great last minute game. Two or more teams, each given toilet roll. Each team nominates a 'Mummy' and winners are the team that wraps the Mummy fully in the quickest time. Pin the Tail on the Donkey: Another classic. Either, you can buy a kit which includes a large picture of a donkey and several self-adhesive numbered tails or you can be traditional and have lots of pin holes in your walls and smaller guests. Whichever way you go you can expect a real riot of laughter. Recently this has been updated to Stick the Nose on the Clown, frankly sounds equally as cruel.. Musical Chairs: Needs one chair less than the number of players so you may need to break the party into two groups to manage this better. Music plays and party goers walk round the chairs, music stops they all try to sit down, one per chair. If you have your maths right, one will be eliminated. Continue to one chair and finally you have your winner. Hot potato: is a version of musical chairs for people who either don't have chairs or don't have sufficient space to play it fully. Here the guest sit in a circle and a potato is handed quickly from guest to guest. One person is nominated to shout 'Hot Potato' whenever they feel like it and the person holding the potato at that time leaves the game. Works best when the 'shouter' cannot see who is holding the potato otherwise a degree of cheating may take place! These are just some examples; party games should be lively, fun and amusing. Select the right games for your guests and the memory of the games will last longer than any prize or present. Article submitted by: KV Sinclair.
